Customize CTM features to meet your specific planning requirements
Capable-to-Match (CTM), a rules-based planning tool in APO's Supply Network Planning (SNP) module, allows planners to maintain inventory levels across complex supply chain networks. Watch this session to:

  • Learn what can be done to configure the system to best meet your specific needs.
  • Get a step-by-step guide to support multi-site planning by aggregating global, regional, and local supply and demand.
  • See how CTM is configured on the system side using a sequential planning scenario.
  • Find out how to maintain CTM planning profiles to achieve synergies between configuration screens when implementing a planning scenario, and get tips on how to enhance performance.
  • Watch a demonstration of the CTM Planning Scope for simulation runs.
  • Look at time streams to determine planning periods in CTM run profiles in order to create purchase requisitions and expedite orders.

What makes SAP APO tick? A guide to the technology that propels (or slows) your planning activities
Watch this session and get optimization tips and a comprehensive understanding of the technical components on which SAP Advanced Planning and Optimization (APO) rely for demand, supply, and production planning activities. In this session you will:

  • Learn how to fully leverage liveCache so that you can run planning tasks in a more timely fashion.
  • Acquire expert tips for working with APO.
  • Watch examples that show you how to use the SAP QuickSizer tool to gauge just how much hardware your SAP APO setup requires.
  • Get guidelines to ensure proper integration of your SAP APO and R/3® systems.
  • Gain insights into the capabilities, requirements, and decisions surrounding the critical components that enable this integration, such as the Core Interface (CIF) and Plug-in.
  • Learn five expert tips (including techniques for tuning liveCache) that will help you optimize SAP APO system performance.
  • Evaluate SAP DP features for statistical, causal, consensus, and exception-based planning.
  • Explore planning concepts and the data requirements of SAP DP planning options.
  • Evaluate the new SAP tools to monitor forecast accuracy.
  • Get guidelines to ensure proper alignment between DP and R/3 so you can transport DP forecasts to the PP module for MRP generation.
  • Learn how to manage the re-alignment of forecasts due to product phase-ins and phase-outs, and learn the best demand-planning approaches for new product introductions.
  • Understand the cause-and-effect relationships between DP design and system performance.
  • Take home best practices to avoid the most common implementation pitfalls, such as poor data integrity, over-configuration, and incorrect forecast model selection.

Real-world advice for your APO Demand Planning implementation utilizing SAP's collaboration capabilities
Explore the differences and similarities between collaborative planning, forecasting and replenishment (CPFR), consensus-based and collaborative forecasting. Watch this session to:

  • Discover new ways to optimize collaborative planning and forecasting using SAP SCM Demand Planning (DP).
  • Evaluate two methods — single-system and multi-system collaboration — to integrate your key business partners into the forecasting process.
  • Find out how to set up single-system collaborative forecast using a Web browser for partners that do not currently use DP or any other automated forecasting system.
  • Examine the requirements for implementing a multi-system collaboration process and determine whether this approach is right for your company.
  • Weigh system performance, functional requirements, and technical considerations of both approaches.
  • Gain insight into how companies use DP and SAP business information warehouse (SAP BW) to establish, monitor, and share important KPIs and forecast alerts with customers to meet end-product demand.
  • See how promotion planning integrates into the collaborative forecasting process.
  • Step through criteria to ensure that your DP implementation scope includes the right partners, and obtain important project implementation and staffing recommendations.
  • See demonstrations and explore the features, operation, and data requirements of SAP SNP functions for Heuristic, cost, and optimization based planning, Capacity leveling, Capable-to-Match (CTM), Aggregated planning, Multi-level supply and demand matching, Transport Load Builder (TLB), Alert Monitor, Exception management, Safety stock planning, and Vendor-Managed Inventory (VMI).
  • See when and how customers who use SAP PP/DS, TP/VS, and MRP incorporate SAP SNP into their environments.
  • Take home strategies to align SAP supply and demand planning.
  • Get guidelines for cooperative supply planning and data exchange with your manufacturing and supply chain partners.
  • Learn what personnel and skills are required to implement SAP SNP.
  • Get best practices to prepare your users and technical infrastructure to run SAP SNP.

Overcome the top 7 challenges when modeling your shop-floor scheduling rules in an SAP APO PP/DS environment
This session explores the challenges customers most often face when modeling complex, shop-floor processes in PP/DS, such as identifying the right PP/DS components, achieving consistency between SAP APO and R/3, and setting up automated sequencing on multiple constraints. In this session you will:

  • Watch examples of common manufacturing scenarios, and see when and where it is best to use SAP Block Planning, Scheduling Heuristics, or the PP/DS Optimizer as your scheduling engine (for example, you may want to allocate certain production lines for products being produced for key customers).
  • Review the essential master and transactional data touch points — such as production versions versus PPMs, setup matrices, planned orders, sales orders, and stock — required to seamlessly execute production and conforming to the plan.
  • Get tips for integrating PP/DS with your R/3 system, synchronizing date and times between R/3 and SAP APO with time-zone correction, and updating your production sequences in real time to reflect progress on the production floor.

Advanced, multi-variable shop-floor planning with the SAP APO PP/DS Optimizer
Examine the ways in which you can schedule your shop floor based on multiple variables (such as multiple product attributes, or bill of materials component variables). Watch this session to:

  • Get new insights into multi-variable, shop-floor planning and how to apply the SAP APO PP/DS Optimizer to the real-world complexities of consumer packaged goods (CPG) manufacturing.
  • Review the functionality a recent implementation discovered that let them go beyond the Optimizer’s single setup matrix (hint: they found a way to leverage multiple setup matrices based on plants, BOM attributes, and product attributes).
  • See how to apply weights to planning elements to achieve realistic changeover times.
  • Understand the difference between hard constraints that are modeled in SAP APO master data and soft constraints that must be fed directly into the Optimizer.
  • Find out which often overlooked master data and master data fields in R/3 you need to set, and how each impacts your SAP APO planning.
